Motivation is key. The difference between success and failure is to continue staying motivated after you reach a goal, and set new ones.

“I have been trying so hard, I’m not loosing any weight, I want to give up, why am I even trying anymore?”

Because it’s going to be different this time, Because you can’t accomplish anything that you give up on. Disappointments and failures happen to everyone, unexpected things happen to everyone.  The difference between those who reach their goals and those who don’t is staying motivated. If you’re motivated, you’ll keep going. If you keep going, eventually you’ll reach your goal.

Here are some reasons to STAY motivated:

Get Your Groove Back!

Remember how you felt after your first fitness class?  Or when you finally walked the stairs at work without losing your breath? Or when you fit into the pants that you haven’t worn in 3 years because they were too tight? That feeling is something money cannot buy. The more you release those endorphins, the more you accomplish, the more you’ll believe in yourself.

Stop dreading Monday

TGIM, Thank God its Monday! A fresh new week to take care of business, get things done, make things happen. An opportunity to set a goal. When you have nothing to work towards, Friday always seems light years away. When you have a goal in mind for the week you’ll want to cook that healthy dinner or go to the gym, making the entire week enjoyable instead of “living for the weekend”.

Wake up on the right side of the bed

Every once in a while, we need a good reason to get out of bed.  Eat the healthy breakfast that’s going to jump start your day, go for your morning jog, or walk to the driveway and grab the newspaper. Find something to do each morning to get you up and out. When you’re motivated, you have a reason to do what you do, and get out of bed!

Do it for the “Kids”

And your grand kids. And their kids, too. The healthier you are, the longer you’ll be around to watch your kids grow and to spoil your grandchildren or, even better, altar your genetics for the future generation, and set an amazing example for them to follow.  They’ll want you to be around as long as possible; and will thank you later when they don’t have to explain the long list of health problems that run in their family to their Doctor.

Things in motion stay in motion.

It’s a scientific fact. Period.  Momentum builds quickly and can lead to great results. Suddenly, you’re not only working for the goal, but also to keep your streak alive.  The harder you work the harder it is to give up.

The “WOW” effect

Picture this: Walking into a restaurant, you run into someone from high school, and their eyes light up. They gasp, “Wow, you look great!” By sticking with your goals, this can happen. Watch the “wows” add up along with your confidence.

Spread the spark

When friends and family see how hard you’re working, they’ll wonder how they can reach their own goals. Guess who they’re going to look to for help? By staying motivated, you’ll not only help yourself, but others too.

Working towards a goal isn’t always the easiest thing. Good things take time and goals worth reaching take hard work.  It’s like weeding out the garden – not the most enjoyable job in the world, but when you’re done, all that’s left are beautiful flowers.

Keep going and Keep it movin’!
