We are so excited to be the FIRST certified KANGATRAINING class in the area! Danielle, the owner of Dani-Fit is expecting her second child in June, and is attaining her certification in pre/post natal training as well as kangatraining in mid March 2016. There has been quite a buzz about the class since then as well as many questions. Below you will find what the class is all about!
“Kangatraining is a safe and effective postnatal fitness class for moms and babies – where your baby is happy (and often sleepy) in a baby carrier. It is a full body workout with floor work, cardio and strengthening exercises. You and your baby get to socialize and you get to exercise without the need for a babysitter!”
WHEN CAN I START KANGATRAINING CLASS?
You can begin Kangatraining once you have been given the “all clear” from your health professional to start exercising. This is generally 6 weeks for a vaginal birth or 8 weeks following a cesarean section. You will complete a health questionnaire prior to commencing Kangatraining to highlight any health concerns or injuries and if necessary Danielle can modify the exercises in the workout for you.
WHAT IS INVOLVED IN A CLASS?
Each class runs for 60 minutes. The focus is on providing a postnatal exercise class that covers cardiovascular endurance and flexibility and muscular strength and capacity. In Kangatraining, particular attention is given to the pelvic floor and abdominal muscles as well as posture.
Kangatraining includes floor work, standing muscular endurance exercises, cardio and a cool down with stretching. The difference to traditional exercise classes is that your baby is with you all the time. This allows for the best workout together!
BABY WEARING, SUITABLE BABY CARRIERS, AND WHAT IF I DON’T HAVE ONE?
In Kangatraining, we ensure healthy and safe baby wearing. We will assist you if needed to ensure the carrier is comfortable for both you and baby.
Suitable carriers include soft structured carriers (eg Manduca, Tula, Kinderpack, Ergo), Mei Tais and Woven Wraps.
CAN I TANDEM CARRY TWO BABIES?
Unfortunately Kangatraining is not designed for tandem carrying. You can bring along a friend or family member to carry additional babies.
IS THERE AN AGE LIMIT?
Kangatraining has no age limit. As long as you can comfortably and safely carry your child, you can participate.
CAN I BRING MY OLDER CHILDREN?
For this session no. In the future our childcare room will be available for older siblings to play in.
WHEN WILL THE CLASSES BE?
We will be offering a 6 week program trial on Tuesdays at 1:00pm starting April 5th – May 10th for $69.
After Danielle has her maternity in June we will begin classes again at the end of July with more class times, such as evenings and weekends.
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING TO CLASS?
– wear comfortable exercise clothes
– water bottle
– baby carrier
– yoga mat (if you have one)
